Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. After one session, you will notice improved skin complexion, reduced skin irregularities and a more youthful appearance.

What are the benefits of Lumecca (IPL)?

IPL improved the appearance of:

  • Age Spots (red/brown pigmentation)
  • Vascular Lesions such as Spider Veins
  • Rosacea
  • Freckles
  • Sun Damage

What Does Lumecca Treat?

  • Brown spots, sun damage, freckles, and age spots from excess sun exposure.
  • Redness, rosacea, broken capillaries and spider veins (vascular lesions).
  • Uneven skin tone and texture, enlarged pores and minor fine lines via collagen stimulation.

What areas can be treated with Lumecca (IPL)?

Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment are those that are regualry exposed to the sun including face, neck, décolletage, hands and arms.

What Does Lumecca Treat?

Lumecca targets a wide range of skin imperfections caused by sun exposure and aging. It effectively reduces brown and red discoloration, minimizes visible veins, and evens out overall skin tone for a brighter, smoother complexion. The treatment also helps refine texture by stimulating collagen production for naturally radiant skin.

Who is a Candidate for Lumecca IPL?

A suitable candidate is someone in generally good health who:

  • has visible pigmented or vascular skin concerns (brown or red spots, sun damage, broken capillaries, rosacea) that they’re looking to improve.
  • has realistic expectations and is ready to follow pre-treatment and post-treatment care (e.g., avoiding recent tanning, certain medications, open wounds).
  • typically has skin in the Fitzpatrick range I–IV (fair to moderate brown) meaning lighter to medium skin tones are more easily treated with fewer risks.

How to Prepare for Your Lumecca Session

To achieve the best results, avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners for at least two weeks before your treatment. Discontinue any retinol or photosensitizing products a few days prior, and arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. Let your provider know about any recent sunburns, medications, or skin conditions so your session can be customized safely and effectively.

What should I expect during and after Lumecca (IPL)?

During the treatment, there will be a bright flash of light and a slight warming sensation on your skin. Redness and warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour. Over the next 24-48 hours you may see darkening on pigmented spots; in the week afterwards the pigmented lesions flake off leading to a more even skin tone. After treating vascular lesions you may see the vein blanch and disappear or a color change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days. Avoid sun exposure for two weeks and make sure you are wearing sunscreen and reapplying throughout the day.

Recovery from Lumecca Procedure

Lumecca requires little to no downtime, allowing most patients to resume normal activities the same day. Mild redness or warmth may appear for a few hours post-treatment, similar to a light sunburn. Pigmented spots may darken temporarily before flaking off naturally within a week, revealing clearer, more even skin. For best results, avoid direct sunlight and use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.

How Many Lumecca Sessions Do I Need?

Most patients see noticeable improvement after just one session, but optimal results are typically achieved with a series of 1–3 treatments spaced about 4–6 weeks apart. The number of sessions needed depends on your skin type, the condition being treated, and your individual goals.

When Will I See Results from Lumecca IPL?

Most patients begin to see noticeable improvements within a few days after treatment, with continued enhancement over one to two weeks as dark spots fade and skin tone evens out. Results build progressively with each session, revealing clearer, more radiant skin after completing the recommended treatment plan.
